Who are Valleys Steps?

We are an exciting, innovative organisation working in a partnership with Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB, USW, Aneurin Bevan Health Board, local colleges, GP Clusters and a wide range of other stakeholders in the Third and Statutory Sectors. We are now firmly established in the third sector and are known for delivering high-quality early intervention well-being courses to 3rd Sector, Public Sector and Private Commercial organisations. Practitioners will also be involved with delivering a telephone information service, taking an active role in promoting the service online and at events and in supporting the development of the organisation.

Job Description

Valleys Steps is seeking to appoint a professional, enthusiastic and motivated Well-being Practitioner/Practitioners to deliver a programme  of emotional/mental well-being courses to students and learners, other young people and families. Core provision will include delivery of 6 week mindfulness and resilience courses. We are looking for applications for a Practitioner/s working 32.5 hours per week (hours may be negotiable over 4 / 5 days) but we will also consider appointing 2 suitable candidates at 16 hours per week.

 

More and more young people are struggling with their mental health and wellbeing. The growing service seeks to work collaboratively with students/learners and college staff in the delivery of psycho-educational programmes and the development of additional services targeted at students and learners as well as young people and families in other settings. Underpinning the ongoing development of the service will be the principle of co-production and engagement with students studying at Coleg y Cymoedd, Merthyr College, Bridgend College, St Davids College Cardiff, Coleg Gwent and University of South Wales. Other work will include providing interventions to young people in schools as well as family based workshops.

Additional Information

Hours: 32.5 hours per week over 4 / 5 days or 2 16 hour roles working over 2 / 3 days. 

Starting salary: £22,015.50 per annum, pro rata (based on 37.5 hours per week)

Base: Pontypridd Area (post holder will be expected to travel throughout Cwm Taf Morgannwg, with more limited travel to sights in Cardiff and Gwent)

Annual leave: 25 Days plus bank holidays, pro rata
