Managing Your Wellbeing with ADHD 6 week course for adults with ADHD

Our 6 week ‘Managing Your Wellbeing with ADHD’ course is designed to be fully interactive and includes various activities to make learning fun.

 Over the 6 weeks, we’ll cover topics such as;

  • Remembering tasks and appointments
  • Managing stress and emotions
  • Dealing with everyday tasks
  • Managing time and focus
  • Relationships and communication
  • Self esteem
  • And more!

The course provides an opportunity to learn from the experience of other attendees with ADHD through discussion based activities.

The course runs for two hours per week, on the same day and time, over 6 weeks. The course location is subject to funding.

Background of the course

The ADHD course is funded by the Taf Ely Primary Care Cluster. The funding was secured in response to a high level of need for those diagnosed or awaiting assessment for ADHD.

A 2022 Welsh Government Review of Neurodevelopmental services found services for ADHD as less developed than for those with Autism

The course has been developed by Valleys Steps through the adoption of a process of co-production involving those with a lived experience and consultation with professionals in CTM

As part of the project Valleys Steps has supplemented the service with follow-up review and co-production workshops as we seek to enhance the offer to beneficiaries

If you live or work in the Cwm Taf Morgannwg area (RCT, Merthyr and Bridgend) and you’re interested in attending, please complete our expression of interest form so we can contact you if a course is running in your area

Testimonials from previous course participants

“Totally recommend this course to anyone with ADHD. Awesome 6 weeks of learning different coping strategies and also having tips from others with the condition. It’s also great as you feel so relaxed around others with the condition. No bad vibes, just lots of laughs and understanding of each and everyone’s struggles 🙌🙌”

“I am SO glad I attended this course.  It more than lived up to my expectations.  I felt safe, nurtured and cared for at my own pace while learning all about ‘me’ and how my brain functions, and how it may have impacted on my life to date (as we are all different).

It was gentle, lot’s of fidget toys…:)  I was ‘allowed’ to be me and felt for the first time fully accepted on my terms.   I learnt so many strategies that I will take going forward as well as how to access help and support in the future.  Plus, I made friends for life – I found my tribe!”

“I just wanted to pass on my thanks and gratitude. The past six weeks have been really helpful, and it has been great to meet people like myself. The things you’ve taught us have been invaluable and are the most helpful support I’ve received since my diagnosis of both Autism and ADHD. Thank you.”
